Shawn first fell in love with film while pursuing a degree in accounting (yep) and quickly changed professional gears. He would receive his diploma in basic and advanced filmmaking at the New York Film Academy and return to Austin, Texas to begin his professional filmmaking career.

On the western feature film, Heathens, Shawn met some fine filmmakers and went on to form the company, Outlaw 8 Productions with several of the fine folks from the Heathens crew – one of which was Chris Weidner.

Over the past several years Shawn has worked as a producer, director, director of photography, editor and even a bad actor.

While retaining his role at ShortFilmTexas, Shawn is also a founder of the independent music video site switchburn aaannnnnd he is also the Site Manager for the movie community website GotchaMovies.com.

For Short Film Texas, Shawn hopes to create a true community – a place for Texas filmmakers to support each other and a one-stop shop for Texans to “Prepare, Produce and Project.”

Brett has enjoyed film addiction since childhood, watching everything from Robert Rodriguez to Ingmar Bergman. Fortunately, Brett became a film critic and contributing writer for GotchaMovies.com while earning his BA in Rhetoric and Writing from the University of Texas at Austin.

Although Brett can enjoy anything, he loves dark dramas, documentaries, witty comedies and anything violent. Brett’s film criticism has appeared on many sites, including PopCultureMadness.com, AllTrailers.net and TheCinemaSource.com. For an unbridled indulgence in cinema, check out his blog.

Jett Garner – Video Blogger, Contributor

Jett-garner-film

Jett Garner moved from Indiana to Austin in May of 2001. He was advised by Guillermo Del Torro to move to a smaller film market such as Austin prior to taking the big plunge in Hollywood. Jett has worked on two dozen feature films, short films, commercials, and film projects in Austin, Texas. Most notably Disney’s ‘ The Alamo’, and Sony Picture Classics film, ‘Baghead’. Jett has served projects as an actor, writer, director, producer, and as an editor.

An accomplished martial artist, Jett opened a traditional karate school in Westlake in August of 2004. Most recently his school has become an Official Krav Maga Training Center. Jett owns and operates the fastest growing martial arts program in Westlake.

Jett attended Indiana State University where he secured four year degree in public relations, with a minor in journalism. He is a regular contributor to Shortfilmtexas.com and has also become somewhat of a cult hero in the soccer video gaming world, with his video blogs at winningelevenblog.com.
