ShortFilmTexas Presents The Exclusive Online Premiere of Dallas / Ft. Worth Director Richard Crook’s Short Film “Trigger”

A small group of soldiers stop to rest in the dense forest just north of a small Ukrainian Transcarpathian village. As Wilson lights another cigarette, a conversation about the “triggers†that automatically cause someone to desire a smoke is brought up. The discussion segways into an urban/military legend about a soldier who is trained from birth to snap out of a seemingly normal existence and into a lethal killing machine when someone utters a trigger word.  But is the legend real?
ShortFilmTexas is proud to present the Exclusive Online Premiere of Dallas / Ft. Worth Director Richard Crook’s Short Film “Trigger.”
(Director’s Note – there is PROFANITY and VIOLENCE in this film and is considered RATED R. Please watch with discretion.)

Loved the film…especially the soundtrack…but where did the music come from?

I like the cinematography, and the soundtrack. Good action but a little choppy during the fighting. The story flow was good and it kept me watching and I loved the ending. It was also cool that even though you had the profanity and the violence you kept the foreplay to the imagination with the cinematography and you made sure that the you didn’t have to show a rape seen. Great JOB.

Well, I think I have to agree with many of the previous Shawn’s comments. Cinematography was great. The special FX were also terrific, especially the title sequence and helicopters.
I also agree that it kept me watching which, I think, is mostly a comment to the writer, David Read. The back-and-forth between the soldiers and the boyfriend and girlfriend really kept things fluid. Great job there.
And, yes, I have to also agree about the rape scene. They are always too uncomfortable to watch and also to film. Richard you did a great job of keeping in the elements that needed to be there for that scene and leaving out those which would have made it an uncomfortable viewing experience. Had you shown more, you may have lost a lot of your viewers. Good taste with this scene.
All-in-all, I enjoyed it. I look forward to your next production to see how you grow as a filmmaker.
Thanks, Richard!

Richard, lastly, I want to compliment you on the trailer for “TRIGGER”. After seeing both the film and the trailer, I have to say that you did a great job of taking the pieces of the story that really draw you in and positioned them at the right place and right order in the trailer.
Too often you see trailers that aim to mislead you into watching something that is not the final film. Often this is done to hide a bad film or sell it to a different demographic, often younger, to boost sales. The “TRIGGER” trailer was a true representation of the film. Well done.
Thanks,
Shawn Hunter

Thanks all for the comments, kudos, and feedback. Most of all, I’m glad that you are entertained. Sometimes we filmmakers get caught up in the imagery and other technical aspects, or getting some sort of message across, and forget that movies are meant to entertain people. That’s what I set out to do on Trigger…to keep the audience from having to analyze nor think about it too much and just sit back and enjoy a good ride. After all, it’s early summer…so it makes sense to keep with the tradition of the summer action release!
Thanks for watching!

Great job. Loved the cinematography.
Don’t know if it was my computer, my connection or your server but the video “stuttered” the whole video. It was as if there was too much “data for for the pipes”. You might want to check to see if others are having that problem.

This was a great movie. I’m so glad my friend told me about it. Well done by everyone.
On a side note, I feel I should say what I would have done in the same circumstance. Nobody would have the right to try to get “Kinki” with someone I love, so instead of going “Mexican Mafia” on those goofballs and “painting” them with bullets and a knife, I would have just severely wounded them. Then I would have made it my life’s goal to drive them to suicide. Maybe even some people they know, just for kicks. What’s the point of revenge if you can’t sit back and enjoy it for awhile? You really don’t get your money’s worth, in my opinion.
As far as “Kelly”? She looks like she has a deep soul. She has a beautiful look to her, and that is a word I’ve only used to describe one other woman. I imagine she could wear a mohawk and look absolutely stunning. A choker would look excellent on her as well. If I had a book on drawing human bodies, she would be the subject I would choose. That is, if I didn’t become too nervous.
