To be honest, I think that the people who have the most "success" in the business are the ones who aren't looking for fame and glory but merely act or direct or write or whatever because there is something inside them that just needs to be creative. Adjust your definition of "success" and I think you'll find that just by sitting down to write a screenplay or appearing in a student film you'll find that not only have you already helped your own dreams come true but helped everyone else involved with a filmmaking project.
