Synopsis:
Manuel, a young illegal immigrant, struggles with the contemplation of escaping from a farm he has been enslaved to and leaving his fellow workers and friends behind. This is a story of one of thousands of immigrants that are exploited by malicious human traffickers. These Coyotes take advantage of these immigrant’s inability to speak the English language and their fear to contact authorities because of the risk of being deported. It is a coercive and mental control that leads to fear and inhumane working conditions. Our story deals with a young man that battles with the thought of standing up to these criminals. The backbone of the story deals with modern day slavery but our character’s theme is guilt and how he struggles to justify his decision of betrayal.

Character Breakdowns:

• Manuel: Age 20-27. A young immigrant from a rural Mexico or Latin America. MUST SPEAK FLUENT SPANISH.
• Sergio: Age 20-27. A young immigrant, who has befrended Manuel through their experiences at the farm. MUST SPEAK FLUENT SPANISH.
• Laura: Age 20-27. A young immigrant, who has befrended Manuel through their experiences at the farm. Sergio’s sister, and Manuel’s love interest. MUST SPEAK FLUENT SPANISH.
• Jose: Age 25-30. Immigrant farmer and roomate of Manuel and Sergio. MUST SPEAK FLUENT SPANISH.
• Don Martin: Age. 35-50 Immigrant farmer and roomate of Manuel, Sergio, and Jose. He is Manuel’s mentor. MUST SPEAK FLUENT SPANISH.
• Store Clerk: Age 25-55. White, conservative, with a country accent preferred.
• Police Officer: Age 25-55. Can be any race.
• Immigrant farmers: Age 25-55. Must appear to be from rural Mexico or Latin America area. We need like 20 of these actors, some of which have very minor dialogue.
