The Coen Brothers are looking for a 14 YEAR OLD GIRL to be the lead of their new feature film, TRUE GRIT.
Character Breakdown:
- Mattie Ross – 14 year old Mattie is a simple, tough as nails young woman. Her steely nerves and straightforward manner are a shocking contrast to the way women behaved in the early century. She’s possessed of true grit and plenty of determination. Enough so, that she insists on going with 2 marshals to hunt down the killer of her father.
NO ACTING EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
Looking for a caucasian girl who’s tough, strong and tells it like it is. Open to all looks, so come give it a try!

As far as I know they haven’t revealed a shooting location yet. This is am OPEN casting call in Lubbock, Texas.

Will you be holding any other auditions in Texas for the Mattie role? My daughter would love to try out, and she can ride horses (which I know she did in the original movie)

They are done with auditions in Texas they are auditioning next in Tennessee then Arkansas and Oklahoma. I heard Texas and New Mexico are on the list for filming locations. Alot of union agencies throughout the country are submitting girls they represent by sending in video auditions.
