I just learned about the re-make of True Gritt from a friend and she has encouraged me to contact you for an audition. I like westerns and was always a fan of John Wayne and thought this could be a fun adventure. I do not have acting experience, I am 60 years old, wear a size 4, have natual color hair that's long and gray. I rode horses as a young girl and loved it. People would tell you I am attractive, at least they tell me that, which is always a nice compliment to hear especially at 60. If you are interested I would be glad to send you pictures. I think of myself as a young 60 and always up for a challenge. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks! Linda

Curious as to how many girls in Austin actually got callbacks. One of the ladies there indicated during the other open calls (I think there were 4), about 250 girls showed up to try out. In Austin, it was over 500.
I suspect it's probably about 75 - 100 girls that would have had callbacks but can't find any details. It'd be great if an Austin area girl got this part.

Hi, I am Mallory. I am 12 years old from Austin Texas and have many accomplismnents under my belt. I placed 2nd in the State as a BMX racer in DeSoto Texas. I ride horses and am very comfortable shooting a 22 and a shotgun with my dad. This past summer, I rode ATVs in Pike's Peak National Forest in Colorado. I love the mountains, trailriding, fishing and hiking. I saw my first bear while fishing in the mountains in Colorado Springs. I was so excited!!! In my home near Round Rock Texas, I am an athlete. I've played Select Soccer since age four and played Club Soccer for 4 years. My 7th grade Volleyball team is undefeated, currently on the A Team in Basketball and was selected for a Club Volleyball team in Austin. I am strong, assertive, passionate and driven. When I saw this casting call, I knew it was an opportunity for me to use my skills and talents. I look foward to an opportunity to meet you on Saturday. Thank you.

And Charlie and the Chocolate Factory where I played Willy Wonka. Along with many more! I'm a down to earth country girl. I memorize lines easy, my heart goes out to acting! I have been focusing on local performances and such for years! Lately my focus has been on perfecting my grades and singing skills, along with dancing. I do all of these things. My true passion is acting, and when a role like this came along... I new it was for me! I have pretty strawberry blonde hair and freckles, I'm very outspoken and outgoing! You can ask anyone around me! I make friends easily, and can fit into any roll, my theatre teacher told me that! (: I have riding experience! And i can deffinitley have a sweet side, but if you ask me too... I will bring out the mean! I would love to star in your production! And am looking forward to trying out. Unlike all these other people i'm not cocky, and i'm not promising you..."i'm the perfect girl for the role" but I will say... If you pick me, you won't regret it!
A few questions....Are you assigning audition times?
Will you really consider a 12 year old for the role? My daughter is really interested in auditioning, but she looks like a 12 year old, not a 16 year old. Do they have to have a lot of riding experience?

We are considering audtitioning, but wanted to get more of a feel for what you might be looking for.

Thanks

hey there! im Logan Kinder, born and raised in the smallest town, it seems like, about 2 hrs from Dallas, close to Graham,Tx - Jacksboro, tx. I am 14 years old, with blue eyes, brown hair. I am average size for my age and weigh around 115 lbs. I am involved in sports, and have been in FFA since i was a little girl. I love riding horses and absoloutely love to be outside, and definetely not afraid to get a little dirt under my nails. I am an independent, and strong person, and think that i could do a unbeatable job as playing the part that Kim Darby did in True Grit. I am a real girl, i dont need makeup to coverup or fancy clothes to look presentable. I feel that i fit this character perfectly! Please feel free to Email me at any time if you feel its necessary, Thankyou!

Howdy ya'll,

My name's Heather Hodge, and I'm from Austin, Texas. I've seen the movie, and make way, 'cause I AM Maddie Ross, except my hair is a little lighter. I think I'm a mighty fine actress, and have an array of personalities as big as Texas. One of these consists of bein' straight- forward, tough, mature, and gutsy. My grandma arty has a home up in McAlester, Oklahoma, a small ways from the real original McAlester's store. I've ridden horses before, and love animals and guns. I'm 13 years old but tall and mature enough to be Maddie.

I'm lookin forward to seein ya'll Saturday.
