Robert Rodriguez Signs Jon Cryer, William H. Macy, Leslie Mann and James Spader for Austin, Texas Lensed Feature Film “Shorts.”
TV stars Jon Cryer and James Spader are returning to the big screen, signing up to star in Robert Rodriguez’s “Shorts,” a Warner Bros. family adventure movie that also stars William H. Macy and Leslie Mann. Directed by Robert Rodriguez from his own screenplay, Rodriguez (”Spy Kids” trilogy) is also producing the film with Elizabeth Avellan under their Troublemaker Studios banner. Dan Lin, Hunt Lowry and Stacy Cohen exec produce the film, which is starting production in Austin, Texas.
“Shorts” is set in a suburb where all the houses look the same and everyone works for Black Box, manufacturer of the ultimate communication and do-it-all gadget. Chaos follows when an 11-year-old boy is hit in the head with a rainbow-colored rock that grants wishes to anyone who holds it.
