Texas Filmmaker Production Fund Recipient “August Evening” Wins John Cassavetes Award at the 2008 Indpendent Spirit Awards
“August Evening” wins 2008 Cassavetes Award at Independent Spirit Awards.

Congratulations to writer/director Chris Eska and the entire filmmaking team of “August Evening” for winning the John Cassavetes Award at the 2008 Indpendent Spirit Awards.
The Cassavetes Award is bestowed upon feature films with a budget of under $500,000.
August Evening follows an aging undocumented farm worker named Jaime and his young, widowed daughter-in-law, Lupe, as their lives are thrown into upheaval.

In 2005, August Evening was awarded $4,000 in completion funds by the Texas Filmmakers Production Fund. The fund is an annual grant awarded to emerging film and video artists in the state of Texas funded through revenues from benefit film premieres and private and corporate donations.
