Class Details:
Writer/director/editor Chris Eska returns to Houston to teach a workshop on the journey of the independent filmmaker. The class will be told through his personal experiences starting out in Houston in the late 90’s, through UCLA film school, and continuing with the making of his first feature, August Evening, which recently won the John Cassavetes Award at the Independent Spirit Awards. Get practical advice on a wide variety of topics: screenwriting, HD production, editing, festivals, distribution, and more.

Film Details:
August Evening is about an undocumented farm worker and his relationship with his young, widowed daughter-in-law, illuminating inter-generational divergences and tension. The film won has won several awards including the ISA’s Cassavetes Award for Best Feature Film (budget under $500k).
