San Antonio based BroadRamp to team with IndiePix for IndiePix Cinema Eye Awards Competition
San Antonio based BroadRamp Inc. is breaking into the independent film market.

IndiePix has selected the BroadRamp’s Managed Content Delivery System to give movie buffs a chance to watch award-nominated films and vote on them online.
The winning film will receive the IndiePix Audience Award for Nonfiction Films as part of the Cinema Eye Awards competition. BroadRamp will make extended segments of nominated films available over the Internet starting March 1. Viewers can access the films through BroadRamp’s Web site (www.broadramp.com) as well as the Cinema Eye Awards site (www.cinemaeyeawards.com/vote).
The nominations for the first Cinema Eye Awards for Nonfiction Filmmaking were announced Jan. 20 at the Sundance Film Festival. Film industry professionals will select winners in eight categories. The Audience Award was added to give the public a chance to pick their favorite indie film.
IndiePix chose BroadRamp’s technology because it gives viewers the ability to watch video online without having to download a third-party media player, a common source for viruses, company officials say.
BroadRamp CEO Greg Nakagawa says this new relationship will give independent films the ability to reach as broad of an audience as the major motion pictures through BroadRamp’s Managed Content Delivery System.
Voting will be open to the public from March 1-10. Winners will be announced and presented March 18 at the Independent Film Channel Center in New York.
