Nine Down, Two to Go.
The Austin Film Society and the Texas Filmmakers’ Production Fund have now held nine workshops in Texas and two remain.
For those of you in Austin and McAllen, the TFPF tour will be heading your way within the next week. If you are unfamiliar with the Texas Filmmakers’ Production Fund, here is the deal. The Austin Film Society awards grants once a year to emerging film and video artists in the state of Texas, this means it is applicable to all Texans, not just Austinites or Austin Film Society members - all Texas filmmakers. This year the Austin Film Society is set to grant over$100,000 to Texas filmmakers this year. That’ll buy some tape stock!
The Austin Film Society has toured the state offering free workshops on how to apply for the Texas Filmmakers’ Production Fund. If you are interested in applying for the TFPF grant, I highly recommend that you visit one of the last two workshops. I have been involved with the TFPF application process and it is not the easiest grant to apply for - actually, what grant is easy? Any way, here is a great opportunity for you as a Texas filmmaker to take advantage of free advice on how to best complete the TFPF paperwork.
Go to the workshop, bring your pens and do it soon. The deadline for all Texas Filmmakers’ Production Fund applications is June 2, 2008.
