Casting Waller, Texas High School Feature “Driver’s Ed” based on Caroline Cooney’s Best Selling Novel

SHOOTING SCHEDULE: Feb. – March
Video Technology Instructor, at Waller High School Video Technology Instructor, Trant Bailey, will be shooting a feature length movie based on Caroline Cooney’s best selling novel “Driver’s Ed.”
Shooting will be in February/ March in the Waller area using a JVC HDV camera (HD-GY100U). (Waller is 15 minutes Northwest of Houston, near Cypress.)
SYNOPSIS:
A burned out teacher isn’t paying attention as bored students make plans to swipe road signs as a “class project.” But a young mother dies. The teenagers responsible have to deal with guilt, remorse, and empathy for the dead woman. And, when a reward is offered, they have the fear of being caught, punished, and exposed.
CASTING:
MR. THOMPSON (24 – 30 yrs old) - Father of a three year old son who has just lost his wife in a traffic accident. Seeking retribution against the students responsible for his wife’s death. Very emotionally demanding role. (2 Days)
BOBBY THOMPSON (3 yrs old) - Son of Mr. and Denise Thompson. (1 Day)
DENISE THOMPSON (24 – 30 yrs old) - Young wife and mother. (1 Day)
MRS. MARLAND - Middle aged mother of high school student, lower-middle class, conservative Christian, intelligent but not highly educated or sophisticated. Matriarch of family. (7 Days)
MR. MARLAND - Middle aged father of high school student, lower-middle class, conservative Christian, intelligent but not highly educated or sophisticated. (7 Days)
MAC MARLAND - Middle school aged son of the Marlands’. Bratty to older sister. Incorrigible. At the end of the day stands by his family. (7 Days)
HENRY MARLAND - 18 Moths Old. Baby of the Marland family. Plays Jesus in the church Christmas pageant. (3 Days)
MRS. CAMPBELL - Middle aged mother of high school student, affluent, conservative Christian, highly intelligent Ivy League education, sophisticated. Lawyer and equal partner with husband who is running for governor. (7 Days)
