Synopsis:
Carol is writing a thank you letter to a man for helping her find a doctor for her chronically ill son. She is clearly wrestling with the difficulties of the new life where her son will depend on her less and less. Her mom, Beverly, is trying to convince her that this is a benefit to her and that she can now really begin living her life.
Casting:
I need two female actors. The first role is that of Carol, originally played by Helen Hunt, she is a single mother of one child. She has spent most of her life struggling to take care of her son. She is about 30 years old, single mother, waitress, and lives in New York.
The second role is that of her mother, Beverly. Beverly has always been there for her daughter and has seen her struggle with trying to take care of her son. Beverly is much more of an optimist that Carol, and simply wants what is best for her daughter and her grandson. Beverly is presumed to be in her 50-60’s.
