Austin Film Festival Opens Doors for Up and Coming Screenwriters
The Austin Film Festival wishes to congratulate to 3 of their 2007 Screenwriters!

Screenwriter Updates:
Jimmy Miller (2007 Adult/Family Winner for Slugger) is managed by Josh McGuire of Washington Square Arts. At the 2007 festival he met Gayla Nethercott of Don Buchwald & Associates and she signed on to be his agent. He also met Mary Stuart Masterson who was screening her film Cake Eaters at AFF. Jimmy and Mary Stuart met and knew that Slugger was a perfect project for them to work on together. It has been optioned by Barndoor Productions and Jimmy is currently working on a rewrite. Mary Stuart has signed on to direct Slugger and continues to work closely with Jimmy to develop the project.
Rick Williams (2007 Adult/Family Finalist for Splitsville) attended the Conference last October. During his time in Austin he partnered with Doan La (2007 Latitude Finalist for Roll Cage). The two had attended the UCLA MFA Program at the same time, but were not working together creatively prior to being finalists in Austin. During the Conference, Rick also had the chance to sit on a Roundtable with Alex Young of Josephson Entertainment. Doan and Rick have had further meetings and are now developing an exciting high-concept project with the Fox-based production company.
